  • Case definition :
    Laboratory-confirmed case: patient suspected of having pertussis, confirmed with a positive PCR analysis or a positive culture Epidemiologically-confirmed case: patient suspected of having pertussis who had contact in the three weeks prior to the beginning of his/her cough with a laboratory-confirmed case (by PCR or culture)(the potential contaminant of this epidemiologically-confirmed case), or who had contact in the communicable period of the disease with someone who presented signs of pertussis and had a laboratory confirmation with PCR or culture (secondary case of this epidemiologically-confirmed case).
  • Description for each case: age; sex; presence of fever; presence of cough, and, if present, characteristics of the cough and time between the beginning of the cough and the consultation; other clinical signs, if no cough; hospitalization requested by GP; immunization status (if vaccinated: type of vaccine, date of last vaccination, number of dose(s), method of information collection); microbiological examination (PCR or culture) and, if performed, the results and the time between the beginning of the cough and the sampling; history of coughing cases in entourage (epidemiological link, relationship, biological confirmation, age and sex, if previously declared).
